EarthCruiser USA designs, engineers and manufactures the world’s most accomplished overland adventure vehicles. Founded in Australia in 2009 and forged in gorgeous Bend, Oregon, in 2013. About Us
The Spirit Behind Earthcruiser Australia
At Earthcruiser Australia, building world-class off-road expedition vehicles isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are. For founder Mark Fawcett, Earthcruiser Australia is the natural continuation of a life spent chasing adventure, exploring remote landscapes, and pushing beyond the bitumen.
Mark’s passion for the open road started early. Raised in a family of eight, he travelled extensively around Australia and overseas in a motorhome long before it was mainstream. His parents, Doug and Helen Fawcett, believed in real-world experiences, often taking all eight kids out of school to explore the country. Behind their custom-built camper they towed an ever-changing mix of toys: VW dune buggies, a soft-top Suzuki, boats, and jet skis anything that could make the journey more fun.
But of all the places they explored, Menindee Lakes in far western New South Wales left the deepest impression. From 1974 onwards, the Fawcett family spent long stretches camped at the lakes, which were then a fully functioning water system supporting the region’s farming industry. Back then, the lakes were full of life—an ecologically rich wetland attracting thousands of native fish, pelicans, black swans, and migratory bird species.
For Mark, Menindee was freedom. Endless days of waterskiing at sunrise, jet skiing across glassy waters, cooking over campfires, and laughing with locals who soon became family. One year, the Fawcetts even planted a palm tree on the beach to mark their special connection to the land. It’s still standing today—weathered but proud—just like the memories. The family most recently visited again in April 2025, proving that the pull of adventure never fades.
Mark’s father, Douglas Richard Fawcett, was well ahead of his time. Long before modern off-road motorhomes existed, Doug hand-built his own from an old aircraft fuselage, creating a mobile base for adventure that became legendary among those who saw it. Innovation and exploration were part of the Fawcett DNA, and it rubbed off.
When the opportunity came to build Earthcruisers, it wasn’t really a career choice, it was simply Mark doing what he’d always known: creating vehicles that could take people beyond the bitumen, safely and comfortably, to the places that steal your breath and feed your soul. Earthcruiser Australia was born from a desire to build tough, self-sufficient, off-grid vehicles that let you explore the most remote parts of Australia without sacrificing comfort.
